From Medical Statistics to UX/UI Aesthetics

My journey into the professional world began in the maze of medicine, where for three transformative years, I worked with numbers as a medical statistician. This role required precision and analytical skills, which I gained afterwards. Furthermore, I tried myself as a sales consultant, which helped me to enhance my soft skills.

I realized that I would not self-realize myself neither with medicine nor as a salesperson. When I was 23, a spirit of curiosity and the quest for educational resources brought me to Poland, as it's the closest country to go to. I ran out of money, so I first started in warehouses, which was challenging and physically hard.

The earned money was invested in my hobby, photography. I love to capture moments, so I tried to make a career from that. I failed and felt frustrated after my first photoshoot; my hobby transformed into an obligation. Something shifted in my mind, so I kept searching for what to do for a living.

I kept my hobby as a hobby. To pay my bills, I continued to work as an immigrant in Poland, as a warehouse worker. Meanwhile Covid happened, a challenge for all of us. For all time working there, I gained some skills, such as team playing, leadership (already 4 years of experience in that field), and responsibility-taking. I practiced two languages at the time (Polish & English).

Flashback story: My last vacation in Ukraine lasted until the next horrible event, the beginning of the war. Just before that, I did my research about my next move in my career path, about my preferences and skill set. So, I made an important decision - to buy a course in design. At first, it was graphic design, but eventually shifted to UX/UI because it requires making research and striving to make changes.

So here we are. I finished the course, keep reading books, listening to podcasts, and watching educational content. While I was learning, I had to pay my bills, so I kept working in the warehouse. I quit my last job as a leader & translator, rejected a proposal from my previous agency to work with them as a recruiter, and made a decision to choose the UX design field as my career path. I enjoy it. I like the perspectives ahead, the rush of energy which is coming within diving in.

On my way to make changes.
